ReaperToAAF

Move sessions between REAPER and Pro Tools — in both directions, without rebuilding them by hand.

ReaperToAAF converts REAPER projects to AAF for Pro Tools, and converts AAF back into REAPER projects. I built this out of my own necessity because I love working in REAPER but want to stay relevant in the post production world. It reads AAFs from Pro Tools, Media Composer, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Nuendo and Logic — so anything that exports an AAF can land in REAPER, and anything you cut in REAPER can go to the mix stage.

Clips land sample-accurately, with fades, crossfades, clip gain and pan, track names, markers and session timecode intact. Delivered audio carries BWF timestamps and unique IDs, so Pro Tools relinks it automatically.

Honest limits

What it doesn't do.

No MIDI, no plugins, no FX chains. AAF carries audio and video. It does not carry MIDI items, plugin instances or their settings. Those stay behind in the originating session.

Video ships beside the AAF, not inside it. Pro Tools cannot read video from within an AAF, so embedded video is written out as a separate file next to it, ready to import.
